Faculty Webinar: IS BANKING ON CULTURE A CAPITAL IDEA?
There is increasing interest among bank regulators in the United States and Europe in the role that corporate culture plays in the way banks are managed, the risks they take and the contingent liabilities they create for taxpayers. There is widespread agreement that culture is really important but less agreement on how to diagnose it and how to use it in prudential regulation. Many feel it is just too nebulous, so while it is good to talk about it, perhaps we are limited in what we can do about it. In this webinar, Professor Thakor will separate fact from fiction and use the insights from recent research to discuss how leaders in banking as well as regulators can use culture to complement both the power of executive compensation as well as the traditional tools of prudential regulation like capital requirements.
Join Anjan Thakor, John E. Simon Professor of Finance, director of the PhD program, and director of the WFA Center for Finance and Accounting Research.
Webinars are delivered via Zoom on your laptop, tablet, or phone, and a link will be emailed to you prior to the event.
